How I almost took the “surprise” out of “surprise proposal”

“Can you keep a secret?”

Ask any five year old this. They all say yes. They all light up with excitement like you told them Santa was coming. 

And thats just what I did when Stephen (a classmate) asked me if I could bring my camera to Shabbat, because Josh and Amanda were going to announce they were engaged. Of course I can keep a secret! Duh! Who else would I honestly tell???!?! 

So the next morning when Josh texted me asking if I could bring my camera to class, I assumed it was to take pictures of the newly engaged couple as they told the class. Of course I said yes, and proceeded to TEXT AMANDA SAYING CONGRATS ON THE ENGAGEMENT AND I CANT WAIT TO SEE THE RING. Thank sweet baby bundled Jesus that I got interrupted by another phone call and forgot all about texting her back.

Because really..Josh hadn’t proposed yet.

But when he did, his roommate Curt and I documented the whole thing so that he and Amanda can show their (beautiful no doubt) children and grandchildren how he proposed. And how she said yes.

Josh and Amanda…I am so unbelievably happy for the two of you and feel so blessed/honored not only to help document the proposal, but to know each of you. To see a true love story written by God and two people that love Jesus more than each other..is absolutely inspiring and amazing. Love y’all!!
